Fall Foliage In Washington County Kansas

Halloween afternoon I decided to go for a drive to see how the harvest was progressing and to see if there was any Fall colors remaining. While most of the native trees in Washington County are bare of leaves, the maples and several other species that have been planted in the towns were still quite colorful. I traveled mostly through the eastern part of the County stopping in Greenleaf, Barnes, Hanover, and Washington, it was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon.

A Football Saturday at Kansas State

On Saturday October 17th a friend of mine and I attended the football game between the Kansas State Wildcats and the Aggies of Texas A&M in Manhattan. K-State had lost the week before to Texas Tech in Lubbock by a lopsided score and so we didn't know exactly what to expect, the Aggies were a solid favorite entering the game. We were pleasantly surprised by the play of Kansas State who dominated the game from start to finish, the Wildcats had a 38-0 halftime lead and ended up winning by a final score of 62-14. It turned out to be a nice way to spend a crisp October afternoon and evening.

We walked through campus on the way to the stadium, this is Anderson Hall the Kansas State University administration building, construction began in 1877 and was completed in 1884.
