Wings on Wednesday...Eurasian Blackbird

Eurasian or Common Blackbird (Turdus merula) is a member of the Thrush family, related to the American Robin (Turdus migratorius). I saw these at Skansen on Stockholm's Djurgården Island in August.

  5. Good shots... what sort of camera/lenses do you use?

  6. I use a Fuji point and shoot with a 30x optical, it's equivalent to a 720mm lens. Works good where the light is adequate and it's small enough to take along to Europe. I was pleased by how cooperative the birds were on my European trip, they seem much tamer than Kansas birds.

  7. Terrific images, Warren! It really does look like a robin with black plumage. Very beautiful! Love the shot of the young blackbird surrounded by bright red berries.
